How to Get the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge in Phantom Blade Zero
The Tiger Cannon is one of the last Phantom Edges you will unlock. This guide covers the boss fight at Perfect Vessel Pond and all four blocked walls it can open.
What the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge Is For
As you explore Phantom Blade Zero, you will occasionally run into thick, sealed walls that block entire pathways. The first time most players notice one is in the Crimson Forest area, and no amount of attacking will break it open. The only thing that can clear these obstructions is the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge, which blasts a hole straight through the wall and lets you explore whatever is hidden on the other side.
Before you start hunting for it, here is the most important thing to know: you cannot miss the Tiger Cannon, and you cannot get it early. If you have been searching every corner of the earlier regions wondering whether you somehow walked past it, you have not. It is one of the very last items you will obtain in the entire game.
The reason is simple progression gating. To claim the Tiger Cannon, you have to advance the story all the way into Pang Zhen and then beyond it into the Mirage Estate, one of the very final places in the game. Along the way, the story itself will introduce you to the NPC who actually carries the Tiger Cannon — but the payoff only arrives much later.
How to Get the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge
First Sighting: The Owner at Jing Yang Hall
Your first brush with the Tiger Cannon happens earlier than you might expect. After you obtain the Flaming Mane Phantom Edge — which itself comes after defeating the Lion Head boss within Pang Zhen — the story brings you to Jing Yang Hall. Inside one of the buildings here, you will discover the character who possesses the Tiger Cannon.
Do not expect to walk away with the weapon at this point. You only meet this NPC briefly at Jing Yang Hall; you will not actually face him again until much later, inside the Mirage Estate. Treat this moment as a preview of what is coming rather than a chance to claim the cannon.
The Boss Fight Above Perfect Vessel Pond
Spoiler warning: the rest of this section describes one of the final areas of the game, so skip ahead if you are not there yet and just want to know that yes, the Tiger Cannon is still waiting for you.
Once you have unlocked the Mirage Estate from Pang Zhen, the world changes — at least some of the locations are slightly different from how you remember them. Push through the Mirage Estate until you reach the Perfect Vessel Pond bell. From this bell, head up the nearby stairs and into the boss fight waiting at the top.
Winning that encounter awards you the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge. It is one of the very final Phantom Edges in the game, which is exactly why those blocked pathways had to sit sealed for so long. With the cannon finally in hand, you can fast travel back and blow every one of them open.
Every Blocked Wall the Tiger Cannon Opens
There are four blocked pathways shown in the video, spread across the earlier regions of the game. Surprisingly, there is nothing in Pang Zhen itself — every wall worth blasting sits in areas you cleared long ago. Here is the full list at a glance:
| Blocked Wall | Region | Closest Bell |
|---|---|---|
| Weeping Creek Valley wall | Weeping Creek Valley | Long Pillar Overlook |
| Crimson Forest wall | Crimson Forest | Cliffside Lodge |
| Village of Lou wall | Village of Lou | Hidden Passage to Pang Zhen |
| Meigu Lake wall | Meigu Lake | Bell near the Shallows dock |
Weeping Creek Valley
The very first blocked wall is tucked into the area right at the beginning of the game. It sits near the Challenge Trial Statue known as the Weeping Creek Long Pillar.
To walk there from the start of the region:
- Enter through the gate at the Valley Plains entrance and progress along the path until you reach the bell.
- From the Long Pillar Overlook, go over the bridge and continue until you enter the mountain on the right-hand side.
- Stick to the right the whole way through, and the route delivers you to the blocked wall.
If you are having trouble pinpointing it, the video demonstrates a handy trick: click the location on your map so it is selected, then use your Mind's Eye to see exactly where it is from where you stand. The wall hides just behind the challenge statue. Walk up, and you will find the wall fully intact — fire the Phantom Edge to blast a hole straight through it and explore the area beyond.
Crimson Forest
This is the same wall from the opening of the video, and the one most players spot first. The fastest way back is the Cliffside Lodge bell, which sits at a house you have almost certainly progressed through already.
If you have not opened the house yet, here is how: at the top of the property, off in the direction past the upper floor, a crank rests on a lady's body — pick it up, then head back down and use it on the mechanism to open the passage. Realistically, you needed to open this route already to get as far into the game as you have.
From there, the path to the wall is short:
- Head toward the lift and jump down the way shown in the video.
- Follow the pathway down and to the left.
- It leads you straight to the blocked pathway — now blast your way through with the cannon.
Village of Lou
This one is easy to forget about entirely. It sits at the very bottom of the village, right as you are about to leave the area on your way to Pang Zhen. The landmark to aim for is the bell called the Hidden Passage to Pang Zhen, and the blocked wall is right nearby.
From the bell:
- Turn around and cross the little bridge section.
- Jump down just past it.
- The wall is right there, ready to be cracked open to see what is hidden behind it.
Meigu Lake
The final blocked wall sits in Meigu Lake. Make your way to the very bottom end of the lake, right by the Village of Lou Shallows dock, where a boss fight is also located. The wall is close to this spot.
From the bell in this area, look across and you will see the wall directly ahead, sitting beside what looks like a tunnel. Simply walk up to it, break it open with the Tiger Cannon, and see what is waiting inside.
Tips Before You Backtrack
- Do not search for the Tiger Cannon early. It is one of the very last items in the game, locked behind progress into Pang Zhen and then the Mirage Estate. Every sealed wall you find in the first hours is simply a note to come back later.
- Expect the world to have changed. After you unlock the Mirage Estate, at least some locations shift slightly, so routes you memorized earlier may look a little different on your return trip.
- Use the map plus Mind's Eye. Selecting a destination on the map and then using your Mind's Eye makes it obvious exactly where a hidden wall sits relative to your position — exactly as demonstrated at the Weeping Creek Long Pillar statue.
- Fast travel with bells. Each of the four walls sits a short walk from a bell (Long Pillar Overlook, Cliffside Lodge, Hidden Passage to Pang Zhen, and the bell by the Shallows dock), so the whole cleanup run is quick once the cannon is yours.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did I miss the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge earlier in the game?
No. The Tiger Cannon is one of the very last items you will get, so there is no way to pick it up during the early regions. If you found the blocked walls in places like the Crimson Forest and wondered what opens them, you simply have to keep playing.
Where exactly is the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge obtained?
Progress through the Mirage Estate until you reach the Perfect Vessel Pond bell, then go up the stairs from the bell and win the boss fight at the top. That fight awards the Tiger Cannon, one of the very final Phantom Edges in the game.
When do I first meet the NPC who has the Tiger Cannon?
You first discover him inside a building at Jing Yang Hall, after obtaining the Flaming Mane Phantom Edge by defeating the Lion Head boss in Pang Zhen. However, you only encounter him again later, in the Mirage Estate.
Which areas have blocked walls that the Tiger Cannon opens?
Four locations: Weeping Creek Valley (behind the Weeping Creek Long Pillar challenge statue), the Crimson Forest (near the Cliffside Lodge), the Village of Lou (by the Hidden Passage to Pang Zhen bell), and the bottom end of Meigu Lake by the Village of Lou Shallows dock. There are none in Pang Zhen itself.
